Gaspereau Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada
With the unique and challenging climates surrounding the Bay of Fundy, our viticulture program is the foundation of our success at Luckett Vineyards with constant, ongoing improvements to our process, the vineyards and winery.
We currently farm over 100 acres, of which 52 acres is our own, 30 acres at our Gaspereau Estate and 22 acres at our Avonport Vineyard, which are comprised of heavy to light sandy loam with a seasonal average of 1,100 growing degree days.
In our vineyards, we focus on varieties such as L’Acadie, Osceola Muscat, Seyval Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Lucie Kuhlmann, Leon Millot, Triomphe d’Alsace and Castel.
We have amazing partnerships with contract growers that support our quality standards and volume, while also allowing us to introduce other varieties into the portfolio.
The vineyard team is very meticulous about their practices to ensure that the vines are given the very best chance to succeed and provide the utmost in quality.
Marcel and the team employ the latest technologies available, be it in harvesting, weather monitoring, laser bird control, or advanced frost protection, to name a few. Our goal is to ensure we deliver the best grape possible to our winemaking team.
Sustainability is more than just being environmentally friendly, it integrates management of the environment, economic vitality, and social values. At Luckett Vineyards we want to ensure we are passing on a meaningful legacy to future generations while being economically viable today.
Our goal is the long-term preservation of our land and a move toward more sustainable practices every year in our overall business and will continue to focus on:
- Protecting and preserving the land, soil, water, plants, and animals that support our business.
- Lessen our environmental impact by reducing the use of energy, packaging, fertilizers/chemicals, and minimizing waste.
